POSITION TITLE: Early Childhood Education Lead Teacher
DEPARTMENT: Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center (Kroc Center Hawaii)
SUPERVISOR: Early Childhood Education Director
FLSA STATUS: Hourly

KROC CENTER HAWAII VISION: Kroc Center Hawaii is a community center where relationships, individuals, and families thrive in the name of Jesus.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lead Teacher is responsible for providing a well-balanced, developmentally appropriate curriculum that enhances all aspects of a child's development; including health, safety, education, spiritual, and psychological wellness at the Kroc Keiki Learning Center. This position may work a split shift with variable hours.
The Lead Teacher will have a deep commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army, which will be evident in his or her professional life and the manner in which he or she represents The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in the community at the Kroc Keiki Learning Center.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associates Degree or CDA Credential from Accredited College or University in Early Childhood Education, or Bachelor's Degree and 12 or more credits in ECE or Child Development coursework.
At least one year daycare or preschool teaching experience.
An equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be accepted.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field of study.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Plans and implements activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and social needs of the children in the program.
2. Ensures equipment and the facility are clean, well maintained and safe at all times. Assists in the daily inspection of the environment to identify potentially hazardous objects or situations. Reports information to ECE Director.
3. Prepares the classroom at the beginning of the day and performs cleanup and set up for the next day's activities.
4. Provides weekly and monthly schedules of activities. Establishes routines and provides positive guidance.
5. Provides activities that introduce math, literacy and other academic concepts and culturally appropriate programs and activities.
6. Provides daily lesson/activity plans which integrate our co-developed Bible thematic units and include a variety of experiences and activities for children including songs, games and storytelling.
7. Ensures children are supervised at all times, adhering to the Salvation Army procedures for Protecting the Mission. Provides a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable and builds children's esteem.
8. Creates a welcoming climate for both child and parent, especially at drop-off and pick-up times.
9. Clearly and effectively communicates in a manner that children understand. Implements positive discipline when required.
10. Observes children and makes note of progress. Develops and maintains current, accurate and confidential files.
11. Communicates with parents, discusses children's development with parents and keeps parents informed of program expectations, program activities and their child's progress.
12. Plans together with and provides information, training, and guidance to Assistant Teacher, Aides, trainees, and volunteers.
13. Provides appropriate feedback to staff on work performance and other job related activities as needed.
14. Completes formal written performance evaluations, discusses outcomes and sets annual goals with staff.
15. Promotes team spirit and cooperation between staff, volunteers, and parents.
16. Teaches proper eating habits and personal hygiene. Serves meals and snacks in accordance with nutritional guidelines.
17. Knows emergency procedures.
18. Attends scheduled KKLC Family Events outside of regular work hours. Flex time will be provided.
19. Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures.
20. Maintain the Code of Ethics policy, which has been established for the Kroc Center Hawaii.
21. Attend staff meetings and other administrative meetings.
22. Maintain regular and punctual work attendance.
23. Perform other duties as assigned.
